REGA - RP6 TURNTABLE
The RP6 features an innovative two piece platter design constructed from float glass, improving speed stability, accuracy and consistency. The inclusion of the RB303 tonearm and our custom TT-PSU offers advanced motor vibration reduction and the convenience of electronic speed change. The option to have the Exact moving magnet cartridge factory fitted is available (recommended). Delivering exceptional performance through clever design and engineering solutions the RP6 provides a welcome addition to any hi-fi system.
The RP6, another multi award winning turntable design, is available in four stunning high gloss piano finishes. Incorporating many advanced features, the RP6 boasts some major advances in platter and motor control technology.
TTPSU power supply
The compact TT-PSU power supply uses a high stability crystal locked low distortion sine wave generator. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier fed from a stabilized DC power supply, generates a 24V AC balanced signal of less than 0.05% distortion, which is completely unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This then drives the improved Rega anti-vibration circuit built into the RP6 motor PCB. The aluminum top hub adaptor is manufactured to the highest tolerance and uses a six point mounting system to ensure the platter and vinyl is presented as flat as possible to the stylus.
"The RP6 was able to present a convincing musical performance cleanly and simply, unfazed by the limitations of a particular record...Confidently offering a sonic uplift over the RP3, the RP6 seems to tread sure-footedly through the most difficult musical territory, unencumbered by any audible baggage of its own...there's no reason not to go for the package with Rega's own Exact [cartridge]."
– Steve Harris, HiFi News
24v Low noise motor
The motor is a high specification, 24v twin phase synchronous unit which has the anti-vibration circuit hand tuned to each motor and is controlled by Rega's unique and innovative TTPSU power supply. The motor drives the CNC machined pulley and sub platter/hub-bearing assembly via the belt drivie.
DB Technology (Double Brace Technology)
“Mass absorbs energy - lost energy equals lost music”!
Rega has pioneered the use of lightweight rigid plinths. Clever use of lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by the now iconic Planar turntable range.
The latest generation of Rega turntables takes this design philosophy to the next level. A super lightweight plinth combined with a phenolic resin double brace mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) forms a structurally sound “stressed beam” assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonances which will add unnatural distortions to the music.
Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas, while providing further weight reduction to the plinth which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.
"The RP6 lays into the bass texture...if your system has good low-frequency capability, you’ll notice the extra authority the RP6 musters. As for the midrange? Ditto."
– Jeff Dorgay, Tone Audio
Designed using the latest 3D CAD technology, the new RB303 is the culmination of more than 30 years of tonearm design experience. Due to advances in technology, we have been able to fine tune the iconic RB300 tonearm design. Featuring a brand new tube which has increased rigidity to the bearing housing, arm carrier and headshell coupled with intelligent redistribution of mass, ensure this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction free movement from the high precision bearing assemblies guarantees to gather more information from your vinyl than ever before.
“The RP6/Exact pairing delivers the quieter lows and crashing highs with real vigour. Factor-in the RP6’s excellent build quality and easy set-up and it’s hard to avoid the conclusion that it’s a superb proposition. This turntable is one of the most expressive and enthusiastic you can buy at the money.”

16mm Glass flywheel platter and platter adaptor
The RP6 features an innovative two piece platter design constructed from float glass. Manufactured using a complex and labour intensive invisible UV curing bond technique the secondary ring platter is permanently bonded to the underside of the main platter.
The extra ring adds mass to the outer circumference, which increases the natural flywheel effect of the platter, improving speed stability, accuracy and consistency. The aluminium top hub adaptor is manufactured to the highest tolerance and uses a six point mounting system to ensure the platter and vinyl is presented as flat as possible to the stylus.
“Rock fans take note. If you’re in the mood for the sheer visceral power of Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies [Classic/ Capitol], the RP6 allows “Machine Gun” to dip and soar and explode with the force of crashing waves, along with a fantastic palette of mind-twisting and speaker-shredding shrieks from Hendrix’s Strat, stacked Marshall amps, and effects pedals, plus the rat-a-tat snare and pulsing bass that make this song such an emotional workout.”

The RP6 is the newest release in the Rega line-up and features many of the same improvements conceived for the RP3 that preceded it. The major differences in the two tables are an improved motor and platter assembly, the use of different materials for the bracing bars, and the inclusion of the TTPSU outboard speed control. All of these features have the same goal in mind: a quieter background from which music can appear.
And appear it does. On tracks like 'Now that your gone' from Ryan Adams and the Cardinals Cold Roses release the whisper quite background allows the resonance of the recording studio to become obvious in the mix. Your ears are easily drawn to a long decay and slight echo that lesser playback devices often mask. Even on the more raucous 'Beautiful Sorta' the RP6 provides an excellent balance that allows the voice to ring out over the high-hat rhythms that often overpower on lesser equipment.
That same balance, paired with the greatest bass control available in this price range, is what vividly enhances alternative music, like The Age of Adz by Sufjan Stevens. Far more detail and spacial effect was revealed by the RP6 than what the reference system used for most of the CD vs LP Throwdown series of articles could produce.
Stop over our cozy shop and sit down and listen to and RP6 for yourself, there’s very little to beat around the bush about. This is an excellent record player which is priced very competitively, soundly engineered and makes music an invigorating experience. If you want technical frills like magnetically-supported bearings or golfballs in silicon goop, others offer you more excitement (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Rega is Rega, and many will be glad that the company sticks to what it does best.
